About the event

Hope you all have had a great start to the spring semester! The Society of Women in the Physical Sciences (SWPS) will be hosting our first general meeting at 5 pm February 7th (Wednesday) at Physics 375. Come by to learn more about what we do and meet fellow peers across the physical science departments. Food and drinks will be provided!

Note: This event is explicitly for those who identify as part of a marginalized community in order to create a safe space for our members.

Please RSVP so we can get a headcount for food. Feel free to come by even if you did not RSVP, however we can only guarantee that there will be enough for those who RSVP'd: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeG9xtyvhsteHdmfodrt3eV6KGy4rLjM44f6YZq7I1012TBNw/viewform.

Hope to see you there!Sincerely, The SWPS CoordinatorsWho we are: Society of Women in Physical Sciences (SWPS) is a student-run organization dedicated to bringing together women and gender minorities in the physical sciences (including physics, astronomy, earth and planetary science, chemistry, and biophysics). Our goals are to create a friendly and supportive environment in these departments and to provide support, encouragement, and networking opportunities for women and non-binary scientists in all career stages. We strive to make our events a helpful and welcoming space for all trans and cis women, gender minorities, people of color, people with disabilities, and other members of marginalized groups.Upcoming Events: Lightning Talks - February 12th at 5 PM Lightning Talks are brief 3 minute talks about your research! Provide some context about the field you work in and then tell us about what you do with no more than 1 slide! The goal of this event is give undergraduates looking for research a chance to learn more about the different kinds of research going on at Berkeley. Lightning Talks are also a great chance for you to practice your communication skills. We welcome anyone who has done research (undergrads included) in the physical sciences to sign up. The highest-voted Lightning Talk will get a prize at the end of the event! We welcome everyone to join us, but please keep in mind that SWPS events are intended to provide a safe and open environment for gender minorities and underrepresented groups so be respectful and intentional about the space if you attend. Sign up for a Lightning Talk here!
